First Lady Traci Akins

Traci Akins is a native of Neptune, NJ and a graduate of Neptune High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Administrative Systems Management with and endorsement in Business Education as well as a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) in Business Education both from Virginia State University. Traci is a 38 year old mom, wife, teacher of 13 years, and Servant of the Lord. She actively listens for direction from the Lord understanding that everyday a new assignment awaits.

Her journey would first start at Thomas Dale High School in Chesterfield County, VA where she served students not only as a Business Teacher but also as an advisor for SAV (Students Against Violence). She also established the Knighthood – a dance/step team that she coached for three years. The second stop would carry her back home to her Alma Mater Neptune High School. Traci began truly encouraging young ladies as coach for the middle school cheerleaders. However, the call of corporate America would take her to Chase Manhattan Bank, in the financial district of NY. It would be here that Traci experienced the most life altering experience – she became a 911 survivor.

Understanding the Lord saved her for such a time as this, Traci would return to Education as a Business Teacher at Asbury Park High School, in Asbury Park NJ. Her stern hand and heart of love, often lent her to influence the lives of students that seemed headed down the wrong path. She would serve as Student Council Advisor from 2002-2008 where she raised the bar in the area of community service. Students participated in activities such as the annual blood drive for the Central NJ Blood Bank, where students recruited adults and students to give blood. The Christmas Cards for Soldiers in partnership with the NJ Natural Gas, Co. would touch the hearts of students as they wrote over 200 cards each year for the past three years for soldiers in Iraq. She serves as the Yearbook Advisor (2002-Present) as well as countless committees that play an instrumental part in the school community’s restructure and overall success. Traci was also featured in the Asbury Park Press in December, 2007 for her role in teaching a Leadership class to help shape tomorrow’s leaders. ”Being able to help shape not just the educational values in students but also the moral values,” is the best part of her job”, Akins says.

Traci has always moved as the Lord has instructed, her commitment to him is what makes her professional success possible. The most important mission in her life is serving as First Lady alongside her husband Lyddale, Pastor of Triumphant Life Church, in Asbury Park, NJ. Triumphant Life Church is a 250 member church in the urban city of Asbury Park, NJ. It is here that joy on another level is experienced for Lady Traci. It is through this venue that the homeless are fed every other month as they work with Manifest Ministries to feed the community naturally and spiritually. Their love for young people has trickled over into their ministry. They have partnered with the City of Asbury Park for the past three years as to participate and assist in sponsoring the Back to School Block Party where they provide Christian Entertainment and school supplies. This passion for our youth has opened the doors to many young people. They aim to provide a welcoming atmosphere that allows them to express themselves and feel the love of Christ through liturgical dance, stepping, miming, and just having a place to go. Traci also has a heart for women. She is committed to seeing women young and old whole in mind, body, and spirit, thus forming the Leading Ladies Women’s Ministry in 2007 where she ministers to the hearts of women every 3rd Friday of the month. In 2008 her dedication to the women of her community earned her the Ocean County Women’s Connection “Women Who Make a Difference” Award. Women from all over find her creative and heartfelt ministry a refreshing approach to ministering to their needs.

In addition, Traci also serves as the Chief Operating Officer, of Triumphant Life Church and on the Praise and Worship Team. “I can’t wait to do ministry full-time. I can only imagine what more the Lord could do through me if there was even more time to serve him how I would like.” Recently Traci has also taken on Internet Radio as the Co-Host of Outpour Gospel Radio-Gospel Voices of Today on Live It is here where she can be found live every Tuesday night encouraging listeners to keep striving to live a life that is pleasing to God.
However, her overall highlight of her life is serving her husband of 11 years Pastor Lyddale, daughter Nia (8), and son Nehemiah (7), and the newest addition to her family Tyree (16). Her greatest achievement will be to live as described in Proverbs 31:28-29 where it states “Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying: Many daughters have done nobly, But you excel them all.”
